This page explains, in plain words, what information Shopping Assistant handles, why, where it is kept and how to ask us to delete it.

In short

  • We do not use cookies for tracking, and we do not show ads.
  • We do not sell anyone's data.
  • Visitor counts are anonymous: we do not keep IP addresses for them.
  • Questions shoppers type are sent to an AI service so it can answer them.
  • Email support@jivahire.com to see or delete your data.

Who we are

Shopping Assistant is a service run by Upswap at upswap.app. Online stores add it to their website so shoppers can find products by describing what they need and watch the store's live shopping shows.

For shoppers' information, the store whose assistant you use decides what it is used for, and we handle it on the store's behalf. For store accounts and for our own website, we decide.

Information about stores

When a store signs up and uses Shopping Assistant, we keep:

  • the account: the email address and store name, the email addresses of team members the store adds, and the password in a form that cannot be read back (scrypt hash);
  • the products the store connects or uploads (names, descriptions, prices, links to pictures and product pages), the product videos and documents it uploads, and the settings it chooses;
  • if the store connects its own product database, the connection details, stored encrypted;
  • its live shows: the video, the recording, the spoken words written out as text, and what was asked during the show;
  • usage and cost figures, so the store can see what the service did and what it cost.

Information about shoppers

Product search

The questions you type are used to find matching products. They are kept in an anonymous log, not linked to a name or an account, so the store can see what shoppers look for and improve its products and answers. The conversation itself is kept only in the server's memory while you are using it, and is forgotten after about 30 minutes without a message.

Live shows

If you ask a question during a live show, we keep the question, the name you chose to show with it, and the answer. We count views, questions and clicks on products using a random number your browser keeps (see "Cookies and browser storage" below), not your name.

Buying

You always buy on the store's own website. We never see or handle payment details. When you click a product's buy link, we count the click and send you to the store.

Visits to our website

We count visits to our home page, the demo store and the stores' shop and live show pages ourselves, without cookies and without anyone else's tracking scripts. For each visit we keep the time, the page, an anonymous visitor number, the country, region and city, the name of the website you came from (for example "google.com"), any campaign tag in the link, and the kind of device and browser (for example "phone, Chrome, Android").

The visitor number is made from your IP address, your browser and a random value that changes every day and is then deleted, so it cannot be turned back into an IP address or linked across days. We use the IP address only for a moment, to make that number and to look up the approximate location in a location file on our own server. We do not store your IP address or your browser details in these records.

Like most websites, our servers also write short technical logs of requests (which include the IP address) to keep the service running and safe. These logs are overwritten automatically as new ones are written.

AI services

To answer questions, Shopping Assistant sends the question and the relevant product text to an AI service. We use OpenRouter, which passes the text to the AI model that writes the answer. To write out what is said in live shows and product videos, the audio is sent to an AI model in the same way.

We send only what is needed for the answer. We do not sell data, and we do not use it for advertising.

Where it is kept

Our servers, database and stored files (videos, recordings and documents) are on Amazon Web Services in the United States (region us-east-1). Live video passes through our own video server. Connections to the site use HTTPS.

How long we keep it

  • Visit records: 13 months, then deleted automatically. The daily random value is deleted every day.
  • Product search conversations in memory: about 30 minutes after the last message.
  • Store accounts, products, shows, recordings and questions: while the store uses Shopping Assistant. When a store asks us to close its account, we delete its data.

Cookies and browser storage

We do not use cookies for tracking or advertising, and our pages load no third-party scripts. Our pages keep a few small items in your browser:

  • Signing in to the studio keeps your sign-in in the browser's session storage, which is cleared when you close the tab.
  • Product search keeps a conversation number in session storage, cleared when you close the tab.
  • Live shows keep a random viewer number and the name you chose in local storage, so you do not have to type your name again and your views are not counted twice.

You can clear these at any time in your browser's settings.

Seeing, correcting or deleting your data

Email support@jivahire.com and tell us what you would like: a copy of your data, a correction, or deletion. Tell us the email address of your store account, or, for a question asked in a live show, the store, the show and the name you used. If you are a shopper, you can also ask the store directly. Because visit records are anonymous, we cannot find one person's visits in them.

Changes to this page

If we change how we handle information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
